Flamingo Joes in Anderson

No food left following the Queen concert the night before. Understandable but poor planning. Service not great as the waitresses were too busy talking to each other.

Breakfast set eggs and coffee. You get a small cup of coffee suitable for a hobbit and plain poached eggs on toast. More worth to buy a la carte for these items as the coffee is bigger for human size and the egg on toasts comes with additionals on the plate. All for extra couple of dollars.

Im a big fan of the design idea. Its young, fresh and hip, hip, hip! Pure flamingo pop. The view is fantastic and the staff is friendly. The menu is decent and the coffee is just what you were craving for. I tried the smoothie bowl, - it was definitely a very healthy choice, but it needed a bit more carbs in it, since my berries vanished into some sort of avosoup after a while. Also, I wished there would be more vegan options on the menu.

Vibe is nice. Service so so. In a entirely empty restaurant the first thing they did was ask me to sit elsewhere (smaller table) because I was probably blocking the a table of six. Fine, no worries. But if I'm only having a quick drink, ask me to move once it fills up. No problem. Service then proceeded to ignore me. I needed to approach the bar to order something. Again, not a big problem, but attentiveness clearly isn't their strong suit. I can't rate the food as I did not eat here.

For a blowtorched tuna poke bowl... It was salmon and no explanation. For the price I would have expected a bit more.In regards to our table service that was average. They forgot the lemonade.. But remembered all of the other coffees and cocktails. Also they forgot the sides which ended up coming out just as we had finished eating.It's a pity about the meal sizes and poor service as the atmosphere was 👌.To compensate they did give us 10% off... But still in my books not good enough.

Group of 14 for family celebration booked early as we had 2 young children with us (around 3-5pm) Very quiet in restaurant still. At first all seemed good phone service when booking was good great first impression of the restaurant and service when taken to table etc but then the food arrived and it was grossly dissapointing THEN one waitress in particular come over to tell me how to parent🤣 (3 year old walked off mid speech dad was straight behind him i could see them and showed the waitress that's his father going to get him) After she had come straight over to tell me that i cannot under any circumstances let my child be unattended. Thanks lady top advice that i really needed 👍

Really disappointed with this place. We booked a table for 8 - a month in advance - only to arrive and be squeezed onto a table only suited for 4.Ordered food, after over an hour of waiting and 3 follow ups, made by us not the staff we cancelled our food and left.The response from staff was ‘it’s a busy night, with the way the night is going..’ not really good enough. This was a busy night, we expected that, that’s why we booked well in advance.Maybe instead of cramming as many people as possible in, to the point your staff cannot cope and provide terrible service, you could limit the numbers. Very disappointing overall.

Very disappointingly they falsely label food as 'gluten free' when it is not. Waiter said the ingredients are GF, but there is cross contamination. This is very dangerous to coeliacs, it could make someone seriously ill or put them hospital. You wouldn't label and sell food as nut/dairy free unless it was 100% safe and precautions taken in the kitchen, so why do it for gluten? Please consider removing your GF labels or else actually have the food as 100% gluten free.

Yeah, I'll visit again. The Cheeseburger wasn't half bad, plenty of flavor. Love the fact the meat was slightly pink, as was the bread and aoili. Wasn't pumping when I visited which helped the ambiance.

Great first impression; greeted, seated, and first order taken promptly. Poor table service followed. Tried to attract attention of wait staff after our third person arrived. Had to go find a menu. Went to bar to order, was told someone would be with us. After another ten minutes and failed attempts to get attention of wait staff, had to really call out to someone to get service. Then told things were busy and there would be a wait for food (of course, everyone else got their orders in)! Water wasn't topped up, and third person at our table wasn't asked if she'd like a drink.Would try this place again when the wait staff are better coordinated (looked like no FOH manager was on duty).

Great ambience in the evening but u may want to reserve a table if it's going to be busy.

Had bottomless brunch. Was awesome. They don't rush you, don't force you to leave or drink or order. Were just all around great and made our Sunday afternoon lovely. Food and mimosas were lovely.... The number of mimosas I had in 2 hours may have contributed to this review...😂😂

Bacon eggs Benedict was good, but unseasoned. My friends got eggs and toast (well priced at 8 NZD) with the options for add ons. Good service.

A hidden gem on the waterfront (I say ‘hidden’ because I’ve never been here but I’m sure many would probably say otherwise), Flamingo Joe’s has a simple but scrumptious menu that is bound to cause consternation - so hard to choose. It’s not often I’m torn between four salad choices when there’s also bang bang chicken on offer. Will definitely need to return to attack more of then menu.

Exceptional service and great food. Despite running into a couple issues with a power outage in the kitchen, the staff more than made up for the hold up. They have an excellent vegetarian range, the veggie patty is very good! And the desserts are super yum! We will definitely be returning ASAP. Highly recommend Flamingo Joes.

Has a great range of food at reasonable price. With the whole family and a friend we were able to all eat an interesting range of cuisine with the kids happy with more traditional fare while I was able to partake in a refreshing healthy Hawaiian poke bowl. Initially wasn't going to have desert but glad we did as wonderfully presented and tasting treats. Service team was friendly and prompt and decor refreshingly bright. Had good view of harbour during the meal. Will be back next time in Wellington.

Have been to this place for lunch with colleagues. Ambience is great. But food and service is average. Food is flavourless, avocado in the dish is spoiled and salmon fish didn’t taste fresh. Had a disappointing experience.

Service is painful. Arrived and waited for 10 minutes to be seated. Staff ignoring a huge queue with people waiting to be seated, feels like everyone was thinking "not my problem" and preferred to walk around doing absolutely nothing instead of helping guests who were arriving. I just gave up and left, not planning on going back ever again. A pity, the place looks beautiful.

Nice food on waterfront. They add a surcharage when paying by card.

The restaurant is beautiful but the cocktails, service and menus are below average. Honestly such a waste considering it's one of the nicest place to hangout in welly. Do not order jungle bird for a cocktail. It was absolutely horrible.

I drive passed this place often, the lights always get my attention. I finally went in today :) it did not dissapoint, love love the lights,colours,seats........ I had coffee and halloumi chips. Yum and Yum :) staff were friendly and attentive. Can't wait to come back at night ;)

I went to have lunch here and it was fairly easy to get a table. While the staff were effervescent and friendly, and the drinks were great, the food wasn't so great. The burger I had was quite bland and dry, only becoming remotely edible for me with copious amounts of hot sauce, though it did look pretty. The place aesthetically speaking is really pretty, with quite a chic overlook upon the whole place with a fair view being a waterfront restaurant. All and all, I probably wouldn't have lunch there again, but would visit for drinks

I ordered the avocado on toast without feta it was fresh and tasty 🥑, and the banana smoothie, both were amazing 🍌. I would definitely go back. Both were 10/10 so good 😊 and the colours are so beautiful and the service was super good and fast and brunch was amazing thank you.

The restaurant itself is unique. I really like the interior design and the food selection. The only thing that gives a bad reputation to this place is their staff. There were 2 staff who served us and they were very rude, impatient and even raising eyebrows on us! They are noticeably racist because they were smiling and nice to other customers. The management should look at training their staff with good manners and right conduct!

Gross coffee, my friend couldn't even finish it. I tried it and didn't like it either. The worst part, was paying $15 for a baileys coffee. It was disgusting, each sip I took, I hoped it would taste better but it didn't. Ended up skulling it back but left a bad taste. Then I ate the new York cheesecake, which looks beautiful but did not taste good. So many contrasting tastes that don't match. The nicest thing we ordered were the fries but even those are just standard premade ones. Wouldn't return again.

Came to dine here for our staff Christmas breakfast. I ordered a gluten free poached eggs on toast with a side of halloumi. I reiterated the point of being gluten free/coeliac and when I was served the food they said it was gluten free. I found myself vomiting about 2 hours later due to being served normal bread after looking at the picture I took of the food. I had to take the afternoon off work and have been feeling terrible all afternoon. Service was terrible too. Won’t be coming back again.

Fun atmosphere and decent food. Drinks were spendy but they take online reservations.

Came with my boyfriend on a Sunday afternoon and had a really good experience here. All the staff were super friendly and obliging. Our server Miguel was great and was kind enough to put us in a really nice sunny spot when we asked. Great cocktails and atmosphere. 10/10 would come again.

Hey guys. Your buttermilk chicken burger needs a sauce on it with some flavour. Extra pickles would also help. Atmosphere was good. Food was average.

Went here with friends, didnt know this place existed until they told me about it ! Definitely worth the visit. The staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was nice. Lovely view of the waterfront. Had the fish tacos and they were really nice. Fish was cooked very nicely and was fresh. Would go back again.

Okay choice of beers, big venue. Annoyed by the service, I'm standing there clearly next and they serve the guy who came after me, hmm it happens. Then one staff member takes his order while another staff member (standing right in front of me) starts preparing his drink. So it takes two staff to prepare one drink!! Not impressed.

Fab place for an afternoon of bubbles consumption. Love the decor, location and music. Staff were attentive and professional. Although we did not eat here, seeing the food being served to other customers looked hearty and mouth watering. Looking forward to a meal here. The different zones appear to lend themselves well for all groups. Thank you for the excellent service.

Fast, friendly service food was delicious and the staff were friendly always asking if we needed anything. Haloumi fries amazing.

I've been here twice and the drinks service is certifiably shocking. Both times were small group bookings, and staff insisted we didn't order from the bar in favour of table service. Sounds great right? Wrong. Table orders would come by every half hour if you're lucky, further luck if they remembered to place your order. Both times I've waited between 30-60 minutes to recieve a single glass of wine. However I will say one good thing, this is the only place I've been where the food is ready before the drinks. Safe to say there will not be a third time at Flamingo Joe's.

It was a great environment, only issue was steak was more on the rare side than medium like i asked. But, it was still tasty so i ate it all up.
